The National Centre for Human Settlements and Environment during its past 25 years has been activity engaged in research studies, implementation of research projects, particularly in the rural and tribal areas, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, impact evaluation of development programmes and implementing public sector undertaking projects under their corporate sector responsibility.
Since its inception in the year 1984, the organization is continuously carrying forward its dedicated mission of participatory development for rapid social mobilization, capacity building, general awareness, environmental creation, economic development through research, documentation, monitoring, evaluation and implementation of various projects as received from govt. ministries, departments, international organizations, autonomous institutions etc.
In addition to the various activities that are taken up and implemented by NCHSE and NCHSE being an eminent social organization in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the organization added a distinct area to its activities in the year 2008 by starting a new cultural cell through which it proposes to organize festivals, seminars and workshops on issues related to music, art and culture. The objective is to hold such cultural functions for the benefit of sectors of population like the senior citizens, renounced old people staying in old age homes and partly disabled persons to provide them good quality of life which they deserve. Besides this, such festivals seminars & workshops would also serve cultured citizens, connoisseurs and lovers of music and art and in general the common strata of citizens.
With this objective. NCHSE has been successfully organizing programmes of Indian classical music which is one of the highest ethos of Indian culture. Since April 2008, NCHSE has been organizing annually a two days music festival to commemorate the memory of distinguished scholar, vocal musician and a legend of Indian classical music late Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki.
Although late pt. Abhishki enjoys highest esteem in Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, it was considered appropriate to generate awareness on his contribution to music in Madhya Pradesh also. Hence this annual music festival is being organized to commemorate his memory. The three music festivals hitherto held have attracted large and appreciative audiences and enriched the cultural science in Bhopal. The SCZCC, Nagpur under Govt. of India’s Ministry of culture has recognized this musical festival and lends whole hearted support to it. The Tarangini Sanskrutik Pratishthan, Mumbai, a trust formed by late. Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki has also supported this music festival by lending its goodwill to it.
Besides this, a music concert "Yaad e Begum Akhtar" was organized by the cultural cell in oct.2010 in memory of late Begum Akhtar who was one of the most popular ghazal singers of yester years in the Indian sub continent and was righty known has “Mallika-e-Ghazal”. Dr. Sandhya Kathavali, an eminent classical and light classical vocalist from Mumbai presented a pragramme based on the ghazals of begum akthar as a tribute to her.
SOUTH CENTRAL ZONE CULTURAL CENTRE, NAGPUR
The South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, one of the Seven Zonal Cultural Centre’s in India, was established on 2nd October, 1986 with its Headquarter at Nagpur. Its jurisdiction comprises in the linguistically different States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Each of these States has rich traditions & cultural heritage of folk, tribal, fine arts and crafts. The Centre strives through its various activities to enrich, promote and strengthen these cultural traditions. The Centre is working under the control of Ministry of Culture, Government of India. His Excellency, The Governor of Maharashtra is the Chairman of the Governing body of the Centre.

Tarangini Sanskrutik Pratishthan Mumbai
This is a cultural charitable trust established by Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki in 1980-81. The main objective of the Trust is to provide all possible assistance to Gurus and disciples who are striving hard to pursue and preserve the purity and sanctity of Indian Classical Music, braving odds and adverse circumstances.
Apart from contributions by the Abhisheki family and Abhisheki’s disciples, the Trust also welcomes donations from generous lovers of the tradition of Indian classical Music. The task is stupendous and the means limited. However the Trust is trying its best to support Gurus and Shisyas whose, dignity wouldn’t prompt them to ask for assistance.
